The last surviving ”Wizard of Oz” munchkin, Jerry Maren, once called it the ”greatest fun I ever had in my life”.
Maren, whose real name was Gerard Marenghi, has died at the age of 98 after having reportedly suffered from dementia in recent years.
He portrayed one of the 124 members of the Munchkin Lollipop Guild in the 1939 classic, ”Wizard of Oz”.

In a 2009 interview, Maren described Garland, who was 16 when it was filmed, as ”an angel”.
He recalled how he thought she’d be a pain in the neck.
“But she was glad to meet us, and we were glad to meet her.”
Beyond ”Oz”, Maren landed parts in a number of movies and TV shows, including ”Planet of the Apes,” and ”Seinfeld”.
Jerry Maren received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.
