Starbucks latte lovers who didn’t grab their favourite drink before 3pm will have to wait until the morning.

About 1,100 Canadian locations closed in the middle of the afternoon for anti-bias training, one of the steps the specialized coffee company’s taking to try to improve public relations.
In a letter to customers, Starbucks Canada president Michael Conway says the training involved sharing experiences, listening to experts, reflecting on the realities of bias in society and talking about how employees can create public spaces where everyone feels like they belong.
The training followed a public apology from Starbucks for the April arrest of two black men, who’d been refused permission to use the washroom of one location in Philadelphia.
Late last month, 8,000 U.S. locations were shut for one afternoon for similar training.
