Among the albums vying for this year’s Polaris Music Prize is the posthumous work from Gord Downie “Introduce Yerself.”
The Polaris Music Prize is awarded to the artist or group that created the best Canadian album of the previous year, irrespective of genre or sales, as chosen by a large team of journalists, broadcasters and bloggers.
The final album from the Tragically Hip front man was one of 40 to make the long list from 225 that made the first ballots. Downie died of brain cancer in October of 2017 at the age of 53.
A short list of contenders will be released on July 17th.
The winner will be awarded $50,000 at a gala September 17th in Toronto.
