Having the same family doctor over a long period of time may help you live longer.
Researchers analyzed almost two dozen studies from nine countries and found 82 per cent of the studies reported that repeated contact with the same doctor over time meant fewer overall deaths.
The scientists believe lower death rates may be related to better communication, people being more likely to follow medical advice, and less frequent use of hospital services.
Patients satisfaction with seeing the same doctor may play a placebo role as well.
You can read about the research in the British Medical Journal.
