Seniors in northwest Toronto should be aware of distraction thefts.
Police issued the warning after a number of seniors walking in neighbourhoods, bordered approximately by Steeles-Finch-the 400 and Sentinel Road, have been robbed of jewelry by two women.
According to investigators, the women and a driver in a silver or grey car have been approaching seniors walking.
They’ll place jewelry on their targeted victim, removing the victim’s jewelry in the process.
In cases where the victim realizes what’s going on, the women became violent and even pushed them to the ground, before fleeing in the getaway care.
Police say similar incidents have been reported throughout the city but have no detailed descriptions of suspects.
