Calling the Conservative party ”intellectually and morally corrupt” and beyond reform, Quebec MP Maxime Bernier has decided to leave.
”Andrew Scheer (Opposition Leader) keeps talking about his positive, Conservative vision, but nobody knows what that vision is. The Conservative party has abandoned Conservatives. It does not represent them anymore.”
Bernier, who’s butted heads with the party over immigration and the supply management system, plans to contact Elections Canada about forming a new party.
He also plans to speak with like-minded Canadians in the next few weeks and hopes to offer them another political option.
The Opposition leader responded Bernier’s more interested in advancing his own profile and helping Justin Trudeau’s Liberals by doing so.
