The Queen of Soul wore a shimmering gold dress with sequined heels – the fourth outfit she was clothed in during this week’s viewings.
Large bouquets of pink, lavender and white flowers surrounded the gold casket.
The line-up of speakers and singers included former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson; Franklin’s friend since childhood.
Robinson says she continues to inspire new generations of singers.
”There are some girls who haven’t been born yet … who will be inspired by Aretha.”
Franklin’s niece, Sabrina Owens, says after all her aunt gave to the world, she felt they needed to give her an appropriate send-off that would match her legacy.
Aretha Franklin died of pancreatic cancer August 16 at the age of 76.
