Residents of Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will learn details Tuesday of Ottawa’s carbon tax plan.
Led by the prime minister and Environment Minister Catherine McKenna in Toronto, Trudeau cabinet ministers will be in the three provinces that have stated their opposition to the national climate plan.
Justin Trudeau and the other ministers will reveal just how the federal government will go about implementing what it describes as the price on pollution.
They’ll spell out how the plan will work and confirm it’ll take effect in January.
Rebate cheques will be mailed out to those in the provinces without a plan.
The money is meant to offset some of the added cost the carbon tax will impose on things such as gasoline and natural gas.
Premier Doug Ford is joined in Ontario’s opposition to the plan by counterparts Scott Moe in Saskatchewan and Brian Pallister in Manitoba.
