In what the Ford government’s calling a ”brand new kind of partnership,” a private developer will rebuild Mimico GO station in return for development rights above the site, but details of that are not yet available.
The expected $102-million redevelopment will come at no direct cost to the public.
The proposed new Mimico GO station will include an accessible entrance, pedestrian tunnels, renovated platforms and underground parking.
A temporary station’s scheduled to be in place by 2023.
No word yet on a completion date for the new station.
Built in 1967, the station currently serves 1,200 riders daily but that number’s expected to triple by 2031.
