The 57-year-old Mammoliti had planned to run for the Tories in Brampton Centre in last June’s provincial election, but instead returned to local politics.
He ran for re-election in Toronto’s Ward 7, Humber River-Black Creek but lost to fellow incumbent Tony Perruzza in last week’s municipal election.
Sources say Mammoliti plans to seek the Tory nomination in either Brampton Centre or Brampton East.
The party has nominated a candidate for Brampton East while ridings in Brampton West, South and Centre are open.
