A frightening Friday in California where a series of fast moving wildfires is racing up and down the state – leaving at least 5 dead – and destroying thousands of structures – while forcing thousands to evacuate.
In the north- residents ran for their lives as flames closed in and destroyed parts of the town of Paradise – where those 5 dead were found.
Meanwhile, many are searching for older family members who lived alone or at retirement homes.
In Southern California – two fires are just kilometres from the bar where 12 were killed in a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks – and evacuations were ordered for Malibu – the seaside city filled with celebrities.
The TV and movie production location known as Western Town at the historic Paramount Ranch – has apparently been destroyed.
The location set in the mountains west of Los Angeles dates to 1927 – when Paramount Pictures leased the ranch and began making films there, like ”The Cisco Kid.”
