A letter that Albert Einstein wrote more than ten years before the nazis seized power in Germany – showed that he was already afraid for his country’s future.

Einstein fled Berlin and went into hiding in northern Germany – after his longtime friend and fellow Jew, German Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau – was assassinated by right-wing extremists.

The hand-written letter to Einstein’s younger sister from August,1922 – warns of the dangers of growing nationalism and anti-semitism.

Kedem Auctions will put the letter up for sale next week in Jerusalem – with an opening asking price of $12,000 U.S.
