Country music legend and guitar virtuoso and singer Roy Clark has died form complications of pneumonia at his Tulsa, Oklahoma home.
Many Zoomers will remember the 85-year-old Clark as one of the stars of the popular TV show ”Hee Haw”.
Beginning on banjo and mandolin, his first guitar was a 1947 Christmas present when Clark was 14.
He soon went on tour with legends like Hank Williams.
His big break came in 1960 when he opened for Wanda Jackson in Las Vegas, that led to his own tour.
Clark’s first TV appearances came three years later on ”The Tonight Show” and ”American Bandstand”.
Then came ”Hee Haw,” the country comedy-music show, co-starring Clark and Buck Owens.
Premiering in 1969, it was cancelled after 2 1/2 years but continued in syndication until 1992.
