Ontario premier Doug Ford says the controversy over the cancellation of a planned French-language university is due to people being misinformed.
Ford says Ontario already has 10 universities and colleges offering more than 300 French-language courses..and they’re not even filled right now.
He made the comment after a meeting with his Quebec counterpart today.
Francois Legault says Ford refused his request to reconsider his decision to cancel the university – as well as a decision to roll the province’s French language services commissioner into the ombudsman’s office.
Attorney General Caroline Mulroney says the transfer will have no impact – because the work of the languages commissioner will continue within the ombudsman’s office.
