If you’ve exercised for decades you’ll be glad to hear that a new study says the muscles of older men and women are very similar in many ways to those of healthy 25-year-olds!
The study of 70-year-olds shows they also had much higher aerobic capacities than most their age, making them biologically about 30-years younger than their actual ages.
The research at Ball State University in Indiana also included a group of older people, who had not exercised during their adult years, and another of active young people in their 20s.
Researchers concluded their findings suggest exercise could help us ”build a reserve” of good health that might enable us to slow or avoid physical frailty later.
