The Ford Tories have found $30-million for the Massey Hall revitalization project. Provincial infrastructure minister Monte McNaughton made the announcement Monday.
Massey Hall has been a cultural cornerstone for the city’s music scene for decades, hosting a who’s who of artists like Aretha Franklin, Oscar Peterson, Neil Young, Blue Rodeo and of course Canadian treasure Gordon Lightfoot.
When it re-opens in the fall of 2020 Massey will have a new seven storey tower and a new 500-seat secondary live venue.
The provincial investment matches the $30-million announced earlier by the federal government.
