Facing pressure from the opposition, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called three byelections.
On February 25, Canadians will be going to the polls in Burnaby South, B.C., York-Simcoe and Outremont, Quebec.
Of the three races, the seat in B.C. that NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is seeking, will be closely watched.
The riding was vacated by New Democrat Kennedy Stewart, who resigned to run and become mayor of Vancouver.
The Ontario riding of York-Simcoe was left vacant by the resignation last September of Conservative MP Peter Van Loan.
The Montreal riding of Outremont was left vacant last August by the resignation of former NDP Leader Tom Mulcair.
The prime minister has not called a byelection in another B.C. riding, Nanaimo-Ladysmith, vacated last week by New Democrat Sheila Malcolmson, who’s seeking a provincial seat.
