The day after the U.S. Justice Department unseals 13 criminal counts of conspiracy, fraud and obstruction against Meng Wanzhou and Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies, Canada’s justice minister has received a formal request to hand her over.
But David Lametti says under government policy, he will not take action until there’s an actual extradition order from a judge.
If a judge commits Meng for extradition, Lametti would ultimately decide if she would be sent to the U.S. to face charges of bank fraud, wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit both.
Her bail conditions were revised when she appeared in Vancouver court today.
Meng is free on bail after her arrest December 1.
Her case returns to court March 6.
