A civil servant identified as responsible for leaking government health care documents to the Opposition has been fired and the OPP notified.
The dismissal came as NDP Leader Andrea Horwath revealed more internal documents that suggest the government’s preparing to privatize more healthcare services under a new ”super agency,” including inspection, laboratories, licensing, medical devices and the Ornge air ambulance.
She also claims the documents suggest this has already been approved by cabinet.
But as she did last week, Health Minister Christine Elliott denies anything’s been finalized.
”We will not be privatizing any of the services referenced today by Andrea Horwath,” said Elliott.
”There are aspects of this that we are considering. We are still working on it to make sure that we get it right.”
The health minister adds the government is still conducting consultations with service providers, frontline health care workers and the people of Ontario.
