Legendary Toronto Character Actress Jayne Eastwood is to be honoured for her five decade career in Canadian show business tomorrow when she receives an Award of Excellence from the Toronto chapter of ACTRA.
Eastwood has racked up more than 200 roles; from the geography teacher in “Hairspray,” to the neighbour across the hall in “Chicago,” to the foster mother Mrs. Hammond in “Anne of Green Gables.”  She got her big break in Don Shebib’s 1970 iconic Canadian film “Goin’ Down the Road.”
The 72 year old was born and raised in Toronto.  She actually started out to be a painter but got into acting when a fellow commercial artist suggested she audition for a local production of the play “Suddenly, Last Summer.”
