Michigan legislators saw this as a sign of respect.
Lawmakers in Lansing have voted to designate a portion of the M-10 highway in Detroit as the “Aretha L. Franklin Memorial Highway.”
The Queen of Soul died in Detroit last year at the age of 76 after battling pancreatic cancer.
The legislation will next go to the state Senate.
