The province announces 1,157 new long-term care beds for facilities across Ontario.
That includes 256 at the new Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Markham, and 160 beds at Westmount Lodge in Orillia.
It’ll likely take one to two years for them to become available.

The province has promised to add 15,000 long-term care beds over 5 years.
This announcement brings the total so far to 7,232.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says the beds will ease pressures on hospitals so they can be ready for an aging population with complex care needs.
