Toronto city council voted 22-3 in favour of making the King Street transit pilot project permanent.
Michael Ford, Stephen Holyday and Jim Karygiannis the only ones to vote against it.
Council also voted unanimously to pass a motion from Mayor John Tory to continue to monitor and access the performance of the project, which has been in force since November 2017.
Council’s also decided to make improvements to streetscaping along the 2.6-kilometre stretch of King between Bathurst and Jarvis streets.
Transit advocates, such as the TTCriders group, say it hopes the TTC will look at making transit a priority on other busy surface routes.
