The thousands of Indigenous women and girls who were murdered or disappeared across Canada over recent decades are victims of a ”Canadian genocide”.
That’s according to the final report of the $92-million National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls.
(CBC)

The report concludes a genocide, driven by the disproportionate level of violence faced by Indigenous women and girls, happened through ”state actions and inactions rooted in colonialism and colonial ideologies.”

The report, including its more than 230 recommendations, is to be released Monday at a ceremony at the Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec.
The prime minister, his cabinet, Indigenous leaders, as well as family members of victims are expected to be there.
Some estimates have suggested around 4,00 Indigenous women have been murdered or have disappeared the past several decades, although the actual number may never be known.
