You will soon have more options where to buy beer, wine and cider.
The Ford government’s announced another 87 grocery stores will be allowed to sell alcohol starting in September.
That’ll bring the total offering sales to 450.
In addition, the number of LCBO stores in under-serviced regions will rise to 60 in August and to 200 by next spring and be known as LCBO Convenience Outlets.
The announcement comes as the province passed legislation to scrap the 10-year agreement with The Beer Store in order to allow beer to be sold in corner stores.
Meanwhile, The Beer Store says it’s not too late to negotiate a deal to end its dispute with the government as the legislation has not yet been proclaimed into law.
The Beer Store goes on to say in a statement that it is convinced a mutually acceptable agreement can still be reached to speed the introduction of new beer sales locations, and to avoid a protracted legal battle that would expose the province to significant financial damages.
