Exactly one year since the majority election victory of Doug Ford’s Conservatives, comes a survey showing he’s one of the least popular provincial leaders.
The latest Angus Reid Institute survey shows Ford’s approval rating has dropped to 36%, a decline of six points in six months.
”(Doug) Ford has faced continued criticism over cuts to health care and education as his party tackles the province’s deficit,” according to the survey.
”Ford appears to be retaining support among most of his base – he won 40.5% of the vote last year – but is having difficulty growing his approval elsewhere.”
Only Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil’s popularity is lower (16%).
At the other end, Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe (65%), Quebec’s Francois Legault (62%) and newly elected Jason Kenney (61%) of Alberta are the only leaders who find themselves above the 60% approval mark.
