Toronto’s former Poet Laureate has won Ontario’s Trillium Book Award for the province’s best English-language title.
66 year old Dionne Brand receives $20,000 dollars for her work “The Blue Clerk.” In 1998 Brand won the Trillium Book Award for Poetry with “Land to Light On.”
Internationally recognized poet Robin Richardson won the $10,000 poetry award for her work “Sit How You Want.”
The publishers of the winning books receive $2,500 to promote the winning titles which were announced last night in Toronto.
The Ontario government established the Trillium Book Award in 1987.
