The 26-year-old Richmond Hill man accused of killing 10, injuring 16 after a rental van was driven along a stretch of busy sidewalk on Yonge Street in North York on April 23, 2018, will stand trial without a jury.
Alek Minassian appeared in Toronto court where the decision was made that he be tried by a judge alone.

His lawyer, Boris Bytensky, withdrew a motion to move the trial.

Without a jury, there is no need to move the case from Toronto and the case can proceed here,” said Bytensky.

The trial is scheduled for next February.
