Toronto police say the city’s recent gun amnesty and buyback, was the most successful ever.
Some 1,500 long guns and 800 hand guns were surrendered. It’s estimated the buyback could cost upwards of $750,000.
Meantime, the government of New Zealand has announced a multi million dollar buy back program and gun amnesty designed to eliminate the kind of weapons used in the Christchurch massacre.
51 people were killed when a gunman stormed two mosques in Christchurch March 15th. Two week’s later New Zealand’s parliament overwhelmingly voted to ban all semi-automatic weapons in the country.
