The day after his cabinet shuffle and after announcing the appointments of four agents-general, Doug Ford has revoked two of those appointments, following reports that they had ties to the premier’s chief-of-staff.
(Doug Ford, Dean French)
One was said to be the friend of Chief-of-Staff Dean French’s sons and another is related to French’s wife.
New Democrat MPP Marit Stiles says it was a case of gotcha.
”The fact of the matter is that Doug Ford doesn’t do the right thing until you make him do it.  He doesn’t do the right thing until he’s caught,” said Stiles.
Two other appointments will stand; that of a past president of the Ontario PC Party and a chief-of-staff to Ford’s late brother Rob when he was mayor of Toronto and who also recently joined the premier’s office as a policy advisor.
The role of agent-general is to drum up business in the province.
