The city of Brotherly Love is recognizing one of its more well-known sisters.

A stretch of Broad Street in Philadelphia has been renamed ”Patti LaBelle Way,” for the 75-year-old soul singer, whose first number one hit was ”Lady Marmalade” when she was lead singer of the group LaBelle.
Sometimes referred to as ”The Godmother of Soul,” LaBelle has won two Grammy Awards over a five-decades long career but her influence goes beyond music.
She’s been involved in many humanitarian efforts, working as an HIV/AIDS awareness advocate.
LaBelle has also experienced a resurgence as a celebrity chef, including cookbooks, a cooking show and line of desserts.
