Yet more changes have come down the tracks at Union Station.

Commuters navigating between their GO Transit and TTC connections now have to familiarize themselves with a new route, as ongoing construction work has led to the closure of the normal north-facing entrance to Line 1 trains.

Customers are now being diverted to a new glass-covered, underground path running below Front Street to get them from the terminal to the subway station.

The revitalization project at the station has been the cause of many headaches since it began eight years ago and the work is not due to be completed until September of 2020, five years later than originally planned.
The project is also tens of millions of dollars over-budget.
But speaking to Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer on Monday, City spokesperson Bruce Hawkins says the end of the confusion at Union Station is nigh, and that this new route is only temporary, while they work to construct the permanent entrance which is slated to open at the end of this year.
Hawkins added that navigating the route changes can be challenging but says staff are constantly reviewing signage to make things as clear as possible and that hopefully things will get better soon.
