A play, based on the fallout from the Elizabeth Wettlaufer serial killer case is not sitting well with a family member of one of the victims.

Susan Horvath says if her health allows, she’ll be protesting outside the Blyth Festival Theatre when “In the Wake of Wettlaufer” opens next month.

Wettlaufer murdered Horvath’s 75 year old father Arpad and 7 other elderly people in her care in southwestern Ontario homes for the aged.

Artistic director and co-playwright Gil Garratt says the show centres on a fictional family impacted by the case and will not portray Wettlaufer or her crimes and adds eight relatives of Wettlaufer’s victims were consulted during the production’s development.

“In the Wake of Wettlaufer” is scheduled to open on August 7th.

A former nurse, Wettlauffer is serving life in prison.
