The day after his office announced the premier had cancelled his cell phone, Doug Ford says he didn’t want to scrap it, but had to, after receiving between 400 to 500 calls-a-day, along with harassing text messages.
Ford, who routinely handed out his number to the public, says one person texted him saying he hoped the premier would die of cancer like his brother Rob, the late Toronto mayor.
He says the special interest groups, have deprived Ontarians of direct access to him.
Opposition politicians have said the premier giving out his phone number was always just a political stunt, and never practical.
