Hot and humid conditions are hovering in Toronto on Monday.

A daytime maximum temperature in the low thirties is expected with the humidity making it feel into the low 40s.

There may be a brief respite from the heat in some areas later Monday, as showers or thunderstorms are possible.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.

A cool front is expected to deliver a cooler and less humid air mass to the area on Tuesday.

Heat related risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

When it’s hot eat cool, light meals.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
