Federal Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer vows to increase health and social transfer payments by at least 3%-a-year if he becomes prime minister.
During a stop at Mount Sinai Hospital, he revealed he’s signed a letter to provincial and territorial premiers, spelling out his commitment, in anticipation of opposition attacks once the official election campaign gets underway next month.
”Under a new Conservative government, Canadians will be able to count on stable and predictable health and social program funding,” said Scheer.
”It is critical for Canadians to have confidence that these programs will be there for them when they need them. That’s what this guarantee is about.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has already brought up Doug Ford’s name, accusing Conservatives of being ”For The People,” but then resorting to service ”cuts” once elected.
”For the People” was Ford’s campaign slogan.
Meanwhile, Scheer says the prime minister’s trying to distract Canadians.
”This election is about Justin Trudeau or myself.”
