Most Canadians think technology in healthcare is a good thing.

A poll conducted for the Canadian Medical Association of some 2000 people finds nearly 70 percent believe technology helps their doctor keep them informed while just over 60 per cent agree it has improved their healthcare experience.

Many respondents believe technology can reduce wait times and improve access through virtual visits, and that robot-assisted surgery can improve overall health.

But there are also concerns about the use of technology.

Close to 80 per cent of those surveyed are worried about losing a human connection and 75 per cent fear risking their privacy.

Respondents are divided on whether they believe the health system will improve, worsen, or stay the same in the next 10 years.

But among the nearly 30 per cent who think it will improve, the top reason is better technology.
