Bianca Andreescu will be the first Canadian woman to play for the national tennis title in 50 years.
While happy with how far she’s come, the 19-year-old from Mississauga is also surprised.
”It’s just so incredible that I’m in the finals right now of Rogers Cup. I had zero expectations coming into this tournament. And just with all that I’ve been through the past couple of months have been so, so, so, so tough. So just being able to be here right now is truly incredible.
Bianca will face Serena Williams.
”It’s going to be an amazing experience for sure … an honour to share the court with her, but when I go out there, like I said, I’m fearless. So hopefully that’ll be the case when I play her.”
Serena knows the crowd will be behind Bianca.
”I definitely would too, but, it’s really not about. It’s about going out there and playing great tennis. Luckily I’ve had some tough crowds in my career so hopefully I’ll be use to it.”
The final starts at 1:30 p.m at Aviva Centre at York University.
