NDP leader Andrea Horwath was in her hometown of Hamilton this morning calling out provincial cuts being made to long-term care facilities in her city.
Horwath says $35-million in cuts is being made across the province with $700,000 of those coming in Hamilton for this year and next. The cuts are to impact two care homes in Hamilton.
“Anyone with a loved one in long-term care knows underfunding has real consequences,” said Horwath in front of Macassa Lodge. “It means your parent or grandparent could ring a call bell for help going to the washroom, but be left to wait until it’s too late.”
