With the Toronto International Film Festival in full swing, the Ontario government has announced an investment into the film and television industry in the province.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Lisa MacLoud was on hand at the Canadian Film Centre annual barbecue on Sunday afternoon to say that $350,000 will be made available to the nationally recognized film school and training centre.
“Ontario’s talented content producers and other industry professionals showcase all that our province has to offer,” said Minister MacLeod, adding that “we’re ready to share it with the world by investing in the Canadian Film Centre’s television and film training activities to grow this important $1.9 billion-dollar industry.”
Minister MacLeod also committed to host three round-tables with sector leaders to explore collaboration opportunities to grow Ontario’s film, television and new media industries.
Last year, film and television production in the province was up from 2017 by almost 19 per cent, while the number of jobs also increased by over 4,000.
