On the southern shore of P-E-I Sunday, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer promised to create a military covenant with veterans, if elected.
Scheer said there will be a culture change within the government to show Ottawa is taking their concerns seriously by clearing the backlog of benefits applications.
Scheer pledged to create a reliable pension program and get commemoration projects back on track.
Veterans Affairs Canada numbers show nearly forty thousand veterans were waiting at the end of last November to hear whether their applications for financial assistance would be approved, eleven thousand more than the previous year.
