Health experts in the U.S. are advising people to avoid using any vaping products until the cause of vaping-related breathing illness is better understood.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting a 52 per cent jump in one week in the number of suspected cases of a vaping-related breathing illness.

The CDC said Thursday 805 confirmed and probable cases have been reported in almost every state.

Most patients have said they vaped products containing THC, the chemical that gives marijuana its high, but some have said they only vaped nicotine.
