Accusing the Ford government of not bargaining in good faith, the union representing public secondary school teachers says strike votes will be held over the coming weeks.

Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation president Harvey Bischof says voting will start October 22 and conclude November 15.
The head of the OSSTF says the decision follows the Ford government’s refusal to discuss substantive issues at the bargaining table.
”They (the government) are simply refusing to engage in meaningful discussions about the most important issues,” part of Bischof’s statement reads.
The union, government and school boards still have bargaining dates scheduled later this month and next.
OSSTF has 60,000 members, including high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants and others.
The government did manage to reach a deal earlier this month with CUPE and avoided a strike by 55,000 education workers.
