Iran TV reports 40 killed, 213 injured in a stampede at a funeral for Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani, assassinated during the recent U.S. airstrike.
No word as to what set off the stampede which delayed his burial.
Meanwhile, the leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has threatened to ”set ablaze” places supported by the U.S., while the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council says Iran has 13 plans for revenge.
Ali Shamkhani says even the weakest option would prove ”a historic nightmare for the Americans.”
The tension in the region has prompted EgyptAir to announce the temporary suspension of flights to Baghdad, saying it’ll re-assess things at the end of the week.
