You can fill out an online questionnaire for the next two weeks on how best the federal government can change the law on medically-assisted dying.
It’s part of the process following a ruling by Quebec’s Superior Court that found it unconstitutional to allow only those who are near death to seek medical assistance to end their suffering.
The government’s agree to eliminate that requirement.
However, it could impose new rules to ensure a balance between a Canadians right to choose to end their life and protecting vulnerable people who could be pressured into an early death.
The Alzheimer Society of Canada is urging the federal government to take ”the necessary time to reflect” on the results of the consultations before amending the law.
The Canadian Medical Association hopes the process will provide ”clarity.”
