It’s back to the bargaining table tomorrow for the union representing Ontario elementary teachers and the province.
The government appointed mediator’s called them back for the first time since December 19th.
In a statement, Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the province hopes ”the union will come to the table with realistic proposals that prioritize student success over compensation demands.”
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation says it’s optimistic the government will engage in meaningful bargaining.
If there’s no deal by Friday, ETFO plans to stage a province wide strike once a week; starting next Thursday.
Each board that has ETFO members would also be hit by one-day rotating strikes every week as well.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s English Catholic teachers announced today they will hold a province-wide strike next Tuesday.
