WAR EPIC "1917" DOMINATES THE BAFTAS

The World War One epic “1917” has won the best picture trophy at the British Academy Film Awards.

“1917” was also named British film of the year, the film’s director, Sam Mendes, was named best director and the film picked up awards for production design, sound and visual effects.

In what might be an omen for the Academy Awards, Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” was shut out.

Best actor went to Joaquin Phoenix for “Joker.”  Renee Zellweger was named best actress for “Judy.”

Brad Pitt won the best supporting actor BAFTA for “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.”   Best Supporting Actress went to Laura Dern for “Marriage Story.”
