Online accommodation broker Airbnb will start limiting young adult’s ability to book some properties in an effort to reduce the number of unauthorized parties like the one last Friday in downtown Toronto during which three young men were killed.
Airbnb has announced a pilot project preventing anyone under the age of 25 from booking local listing for entire homes in Canada.
The measure relies on user-provided information and ”user verification systems.”
There’ll also be a 24/7 neighbourhood support hotline to connect residents with ”rapid response agents” who’ll deal with concerns.
However, Airbnb says those under 25 who meet certain criteria, such as positive reviews, will still be able to book entire homes locally.
Three young men died after shooting last Friday at a party in a condo unit near Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard that was rented out through Airbnb.
