More legal headaches for Chinese tech giant Huawei, its U.S. subsidiaries and CFO Meng Wanzhou.
The U.S. Justice department is now accusing the company of plotting to steal trade secrets from American competitors.
Investigators allege, Huawei, its subsidiaries and Meng were involved in a ”decades-long effort” both in the U.S. and China to ”misappropriate intellectual property, including from six U.S. technology companies, in an effort to grow and operate Huawei’s business.”
Meng was arrested in B.C. in December 2018 on a US extradition request and has been free on bail in Vancouver since, while in a move considered as retaliation, Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor remain in custody in China.
