Another morning commute blackeye for the TTC.
This time a work car derailment at St. George subway station saw train service suspended between St. Clair West and Union stations for the entire morning.
More than 100 shuttle buses were brought in.
Subway service resumed around 1p.m.
”Clearly there is an inadequacy, especially in the digital age, in the communication of that information the minute those kinds of things happen,” said Mayor John Tory, as he called for an investigation.
”There’s less and less excuse nowadays.  In days gone by, you didn’t have this kind of digital communication and instantaneous information being conveyed.  There really isn’t any reason anymore.”
There’s been no word on the cause of the derailment.
A TTC spokesperson says it was a complex issue that will take some time to investigate.
This is the second similar incident this year.
Last month, a partially derailed subway train near Keele Station disrupted service more than four hours.
